I have been the Academic Coordinator at an elite sports academy for the past 5 years, helping hundreds of domestic and international high school students that are aspiring collegiate athletes to navigate to NCAA eligibility process and go on to play their sport in college. As the liaison between student/parent and the NCAA, and having a child to just recently complete this process for a major D1 university, I have gained quite a bit of knowledge and experience in this realm. What I learned is that for the homeschooling community, there are specific requirements and there is a need to disseminate this information to home schooled student athletes also and as early as possible on what the policies and procedures are and how to successfully complete the NCAA eligibility process.
