課堂經歷
Students will learn that everyone has at least one or more smarts/intelligences that are their strongest, which can help them to be more successful. They will use a worksheet to assess their eight smarts/multiple intelligences: Verbal-Linguistic ("Word Smart") Logical-mathematical ("Number/Reasoning Smart") Visual-Spatial ("Picture Smart") Bodily/Kinesthetic ("Body Smart") Musical intelligence ("Music Smart") Interpersonal ("People Smart") Intrapersonal ("Self Smart") Naturalist ("Nature Smart") The 3 page worksheet will be provided as a link when the class begins (for printing) and will be shared on the screen. Sample questions in each intelligence: 1. I think I know a lot of words and/or enjoy learning new words. 2. One of my favorite classes at school is/was math. 3. I cannot imagine a day going by without having listened to music. 4. I remember images and faces easily. 5. Arts, crafts and hands-on activities appeal to me. 6. I have a large group of friends and think that I am well liked. 7. I would rather work alone than as part of a group. 8. I love to spend a lot of time outside enjoying nature. We will read each question out loud and they will choose from a 3 point scale: -If you think that the statement STRONGLY describes you, score it 3. -If you think the statement MOSTLY describes you, score it 2. -If you think the statement SOMEWHAT describes you, score it 1. We will find out which intelligences were the most common in the class. Then find out more about those smarts, possible careers and famous persons who used these smarts. Note: Students ought to be prepared to accept lower scores as not all intelligences can be their strengths and it may show them a possibility to improve upon if they wish. Further links will be provided for those interested in exploring their strengths in detail. Optional: After answering the questions, for those who have a hard copy printout, they can create color the bar graph provided to show which intelligences are their strengths. The question is NOT how smart are you. It's how ARE YOU smart? Students will be pleased and feel good to find out how many different smarts they can have!
學習目標
Students will learn how to fill in a questionnaire, tally up their own results and then as an optional activity, to graph them using a simple bar graph. They will learn to interpret their strengths and how to use them going forward. They may discover intelligences that they may want to improve upon if they wish.

I have been doing these kind of informal assessments on many students in the past 10 years and they feel so good to know what their smarts are and how many there can be, not just in reading, writing and arithmetic! This will help them to use both the right and the left sides of their brains while they are learning.
