In this ongoing weekly course, learners will learner and practice writing well-formulated essays. Learners will master writing clear and concise sentences. Learners will be able to download a graphic organizer provided by the teacher or use their own paper. This will help learners understand the importance of planning an essay. The goal for this ongoing class is for learners to learn and practice writing an essay. We will discuss the proper way to format a sentence and put together a 3-5 paragraph essay. We welcome learners who are just in the beginning phases of writing an essay and those who are looking to enhance their writing skills. Essay topics may change, the instructor will inform learners of the weekly topic week of July 3rd - Persuasive essay topic/prompt: School break times should be longer. - week of July 10th - Informative Essay Essay topic: The best vacation destination - week of July 17th Essay topic: Video games help kids relieve stress - week of July 24th -Essay Topic: The role of water in our lives. More topics will be announced weekly Each class will begin with a brief introduction. The instructor will then discuss brainstorming and formatting. The instructor will also review the importance of using transitional phrases and proofreading and editing. Needed Materials: - pencil with eraser - lined paper
