醫學史：現代外科之父

Dr. Thomas Mutter is one of my favorite characters in history. Orphaned at a young age, he climbed the ranks of medicine until he became one of the preeminent surgeons in the beginning stages of plastic surgery. Some techniques used today were first invented by Mutter himself. He had a heart for his patients, often helping the “monsters” of society- people born with physical difficulties or people injured in horrible accidents. His patients often lived as recluses, unable to join “normal” society, and for most cases, he was considered their last hope. Come with us as we travel back to 19th century Philadelphia to visit Dr. Mutter, look at his life and his works, and also his incredible gift at teaching young medical students his techniques, in hopes to continue helping society past his lifetime. 

Class structure is a quick meet and greet time, followed by a PowerPoint class (where students mute their microphones), followed by a question and answer period! Class is typically around an hour long, but can go long depending on how many questions the students have at the end of the class, but you’re always welcome to leave when you need!
