課堂經歷

英語程度 - 未知
美國 9 - 12 年級
In this course, students will learn common topics seen during the first semester in high school chemistry level 1 (both regular & honors US curricula); please see the list below. Learners at both honors and regular level chemistry are welcome to sign up. We will cover the topics in depth so that learners can understand the materials thoroughly. There will be homework in this course. Students will need to keep up with the classwork and the homework to get full benefit from this course as later materials will build on earlier materials in chemistry. For some of the topics, learners will have the option to work on more difficult problems. Answers to the practice problems will be shown in class so that learners can watch the recordings to review. Videos of lab activities will be provided to students. A few of these lab activities (not all) can be performed at home with parental guidance by following the directions in the videos. Instructions will be provided when we get to the lab portion.

This is a suitable course for home-schooled students and for students who are currently enrolled in high school chemistry. Please note that since this is a semester course condensed into 22 days, some learners may find this class to be fast paced.

Presentations, practice problems, videos and simulations will be used to teach. Depending on the topic, I may use online assessments to check for student understanding. Worksheet packets that go along with the presentations and homework problems will be provided. Students are expected to take some notes as they fill in the blanks on the handouts. This class is an interactive class; when in doubt, students are encouraged to ask questions. I will be assisting students while they work.

The recording of each session will be available to enrolled students after attending one live session (as long as there are students present in each session). This is meant to help learners review or catch up if they miss anything during class as the class may have diverse learners. Please note that with the weekly payment option, parents may chose to withdraw their enrollment at any time to stop the weekly payments but are not able to resume their enrollment and will lose all access to previous class materials.

⚠️Please check the meeting dates around Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year times as we won't have meetings on and around the holidays. Meeting dates may vary around the following time periods:
***Winter Break: Christmas to New Year's day
***Spring Break: second week of April

⚠️Later topics will build on earlier topics in chemistry.

父母的引導和規範
We may or may not use all the external resources listed under materials. Students will not need to make an account for accessing the external resources. Some of the resources are used only on the teacher's side to teach while sharing the screen. Depending on the learners, parents may need to guide, assist and monitor learners for the hands-on activities and the experiments if they decide to work on the optional lab activities. Please keep in mind that vinegar has a strong odor and mixing it with baking soda during the lab experiment will release gas. Iron nails and pennies will be used; students will not need to hammer the nail into anything. Clear directions for the experiments will be provided. Please make sure to follow the directions and mix only the amounts of materials mentioned in the protocol.
