Class Description: In this fun, interactive 30-minute class, kids ages 5-10 will explore the basics of health and wellness through engaging activities and discussions! We’ll cover key topics like balanced eating, exercise, hygiene, and emotional well-being in a way that’s easy to understand and enjoyable for young minds. Kids will learn about how taking care of their bodies and minds helps them feel strong, energized, and happy each day. What We’ll Cover: Healthy Eating: We’ll start by exploring the concept of a balanced diet and how different foods help our bodies in different ways. Kids will learn about the food groups — fruits, vegetables, proteins, carbohydrates, dairy, and healthy fats — and why each is important for growing strong and staying active. Plus, they’ll discover the importance of drinking water to stay hydrated! Exercise and Movement: We’ll dive into why exercise is essential for staying healthy and how it can be super fun! Through a short “freeze dance” activity, kids will get to move around and experience how exercise makes them feel energized and happy. We’ll discuss different ways they can stay active every day, from riding bikes to dancing to playing sports. Hygiene and Staying Clean: Next, we’ll cover the importance of cleanliness in staying healthy. We’ll introduce kids to simple hygiene habits, like handwashing, brushing teeth, and bathing, that help prevent illness and keep them feeling fresh. Through a “hand-washing dance,” kids will learn how long to scrub their hands to stay germ-free. Emotional Well-Being: Finally, we’ll discuss how wellness includes taking care of our minds and feelings. Kids will learn that all emotions are normal and that talking to others, practicing kindness, and using simple breathing techniques can help them feel better when they’re upset or nervous. Learning Objectives: - Understand the basics of a balanced diet and why different foods are important. - Recognize the importance of regular physical activity for energy - Identify simple hygiene practices and why they help keep us healthy. - Learn basic emotional wellness strategies for feeling calm and happy. Class Highlights: Interactive Discussions: Kids are encouraged to share their favorite healthy foods and exercises. Movement Breaks: A quick “freeze dance” session will get everyone up and moving! Hands-On Hygiene: Kids will participate in a “hand-washing dance” to make learning about cleanliness fun. Relaxation Practice: We’ll practice taking a few deep breaths together to explore how breathing can help us feel calm. By the end of the class, kids will have a basic understanding of health and wellness and feel excited to try some new habits for taking care of themselves! This engaging session will give them the tools to make positive choices about their bodies and minds.
