In this Ongoing class, students will explore how veterinarians could use Math in their jobs. The teacher and students will explore an idea such as weighing an animal or charging the clients for the services performed by the vet. They will discuss how the vets may perform the task using Math while exploring example situations created by the teacher and students. Students should know their numbers to one thousand as well as have an understanding of addition and subtraction. Students who have a strong foundation with their numbers to one thousand and a strong understanding of addition and subtraction could do well in this class. Let's have fun exploring how vets could use Math in their jobs! Ideas to be covered: Week of 6/2- Feeding an animal Week of 6/9- Medicine for an animal Week of 6/16- Exercise for an animal Week of 6/23- Client Charges for Animal Vet Visit Week of 6/30-Large Farm Animals' Weight Week of 7/6- Feeding Large Farm Animals Week of 7/13- Medicine for Large Farm Animals Week of 7/20- Exercise for Large Farm Animals Week of 7/27- Traveling Vets Week of 8/3- Birds at the Zoo with Vets Week of 8/10- Our small pets and the vets Week of 8/17- Our large pets and the vets Week of 8/24- Dogs to the vet Week of 8/31- Cats to the vet - Choice Day - Animal Weight More topics will be added as the weeks' progress.
