Calling all Harry Potter fans! 🧙 Welcome to our Harry Potter book club! We will meet weekly to discuss a chapter of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Students will read each chapter before class and meet weekly for a class discussion. We will discuss our favourite parts of each chapter and our favourite characters. We will compare notes on different aspects of the story. For example: theme, setting, plot, emotions, point of view, etc. Learners will also be asked trivia + reflection questions during each meeting. We will have a fun weekly activity after each chapter discussion: -get sorted into your Hogwarts house by the sorting hat -create your wizard/witch name -concoct your own potions -quiz battles & more! Once learners have completed 17 classes (one for each chapter), they will receive a certificate of completion (!!!) showing that they read the entire Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone book. Woohoo! Book Synopsis: Harry Potter resides with Vernon and Petunia Dursley, his cruel uncle and aunt, and their mischievous son, Dudley. On Harry's eleventh birthday, a half-giant named Rubeus Hagrid reveals that Harry's parents, James and Lily Potter, were wizards when he brings him an entrance letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Harry Potter's road to reconciling with his past and facing his future begins with the captivating novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. HOUSE CUP COMPETITION: Leaners will be given assignments weekly to complete before next class (optional). They will be awarded house points if they complete the assignments! Then the winning house will be awarded with the house cup! (This will be in the form of a printable certificate that states they won the house cup). Please do not hesitate to join a section that has already begun! You will still be eligible to win the house cup and will still receive your certificate stating that you completed the reading of the entire book. If there is not a section time that works for you, please message me and I will do my best to open a time that works for you. 🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄 ALL ONGOING CLASS SCHEDULES ARE LISTED BELOW Sunday 4:00PM CST Class Schedule: Week 1: January 28: Chapter 1 - The Boy Who Lived Week 2: February 4: Chapter 2 - The Vanishing Glass Week 3: February 11: Chapter 3 - The Letters from No one Week 4: February 18: Chapter 4 - The Keepers of Keys Week 5: February 25: Chapter 5 - Diagon Alley Week 6: March 3: Chapter 6 - The Journey From Platform Nine and Three Quarters Week 7: March 10: Chapter 7 - The Sorting Hat Week 8: March 17: Chapter 8 - The Potions Master Week 9: March 24: Chapter 9 - The Midnight Duel Week 10: March 31: Chapter 10 - Hallowe’en Week 11: April 7: Chapter 11 - Quidditch Week 12: April 14: Chapter 12 – The Mirror of Erised Week 13: April 21: Chapter 13 – Nicolas Flamel Week 14: April 28: Chapter 14 – Norbert the Norwegian Ridgeback Week 15: May 5: Chapter 15 – The Forbidden Forest Week 16: May 12: Chapter 16 – Through the Trapdoor Week 17: May 19: Chapter 17 – The Man With Two Faces Topics will cycle after 17 weeks.
