Students will begin by sharing something special about themselves. Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday dear Tacky. Happy Birthday to you! Today is Tacky's birthday. His friends worked so hard to throw him a surprise birthday party! Have you ever had a surprise birthday party? What was your best birthday party ever? In this class, students will listen to the story "Happy Birthday, Tacky" by Helen Lester. Next, students will discuss their own birthdays as they color pictures for Tacky's birthday. This is a social class and all students will have a chance to discuss their special day. What do you do to celebrate your birthday? What do you eat? Who celebrates with you?
