Pertinent info:
Current Snack Title: Silly Sandwiches
Up Next: Trailing with the Mix!

Parental guidance is necessary for this class, use of food, and a child safe knife. Please take care to use safe, allergen-free foods for your learner and ensure your learner uses foods that they can chew efficiently.

Snack Time! Welcome to my class for beginners-intermediate Junior Chefs, with a major in Snack Making.
I will guide the students through a fun filled class. We will describe tastes, texture, and health benefits all atop one delicious snack.

*This class strongly suggests independence and '**relatively' healthier food choices. Children LOVE being able to take ownership and create something for themselves. What an accomplishment and boost for confidence. Wooo hoo!

*Students and I will sequentially prepare: the snack listed above and students CHOOSE the outcome of their creation by means of bringing their favorite toppings

*In addition to the tactile, sensory experience of touching and building the snack, learners may strengthen descriptive language and peer conversational skill as we observe their ingredients and creations. (How does it smell, look, taste, feel? Do you like what you taste?).

*Learners are encouraged to scoop and spread, safely chop and stir, mix, and pour their recipes. This may help strengthen manual dexterity/fine motor skill and strengthens patience and poise. (Parental guidance)

We will enjoy our delicious builds at the end of class! Note* Learners may enjoy any unfinished snacks, after class if parents see fit.
At times I may incorporate a corresponding story or song pertaining to the snack

I will also take care to mention properly washed hands before eating, kitchen safety, and basic etiquette.

I like to have fun, feel alive, use tactile engagements and gentle guiding techniques at all times.
We will have an abundance of open discussion. Each learner will be encouraged to participate.

A possible 'mess' is to be expected depending on ability. Fun! :-)

Thank you so much!

********CLASS BASICS*********
We explore through semi-structured play. Often times, lessons will be semi child-led, and full of engagement. What might you expect during class?:
1) I may stop briefly to answer ‘off-topic’ questions that are relevant and important to the learner. This allows them to express themselves and feel included. However, I have a ‘touch’ that gently brings the conversation back on task!
2) Learners may be asked to engage in movement or physical activities, often where appropriate.
3) A relatively modest supply list is necessary for your hands-on, tactile learner- see the supply list for full participation.
4) Class topics are pre-planned, with a bit of 'wiggle-room' for child-led creativity
5) Each learner is subject to their own project outcome - creativity and confidence at it's best!

Be sure you are comfortable with some age appropriate interjections, my acknowledgment of student comments, encouragement, feedback, questions, and more. Remember, I bring the class back to center with gentle guiding techniques. The 'mute' and 'waiting room' buttons will be used sparingly and in the case of extreme interruption.
Each moment is a learning opportunity and exposure to real-life scenarios. Learners will have the opportunity to 'choose' in certain instances during classroom instruction. These instances will be plainly stated to the learner. I believe the element of choice helps develop thinking abilities, reasoning skills, confidence, and creativity.

學習目標

The students will be encouraged to follow sequential instruction, explore relatively healthful foods, use of manual dexterity, expand descriptive conversation, taste palate, independence and confidence, identify the foods used , and their favorite/least favorite foods. Creativity.
