課堂經歷
Hello, Parents This class allows children to create and build at their level. The method of teaching in this class is Montessori which is very open-ended and hands-on. Many of the activities that will be given/discussed in this class are based on child interest and choice. This class will help children to be able to problem solve, predict, develop better fine motor skills and much more. “Did you know that when a child is given an opportunity to develop at their own level they are much more likely to be successful?” Parent Information I look forward to working with each family. I just wanted to give you a little information on my teaching style. • After each class talk with your little one and ask them what they enjoyed • Allow them time to explain and give them your undivided attention • Each week they will have a creation they made Almost everything we are doing in class is open-ended… What’s that you ask??? Questions that have more than one right answer, or ones than can be answered in many ways, are called open‐ended or divergent questions. This way of asking questions stimulates more language use, acknowledges that there can be many solutions to one problem, affirms children’s ideas, and encourages creative thinking. Listening to your child’s answers is even more important than asking the open-ended questions o Wait 5-10 seconds for your child to think and formulate responses. o Allow your child to fully answer the question without interruption. o Show that you are interested in your child’s answers. o Keep the conversation going until your child gives you clues to move on. Six types of open-ended questions we ask at school. You should try them out at home too. Open-ended Knowledge Questions o What happened when…? o What happened before/after…? o What did it look/feel/sound/taste/smell like? o What do you remember from…? o Describe what you know about… o Tell me about your… o Name all of your favorite _____. o What did you use to make it? o List everything you think you might find in… o Describe to me _____ (block structure, etc.) and how you made it.
學習目標
Students will begin learning how to identify what truly interest them and how their ideas make a great impact. They will be able to identify more areas of interest and might become a little more independent. Each child will get an opportunity to find something that they can bring to life and know that using recycled items can be fun and interesting. Just like the student in the photo, holding a baseball bat that she made out of a tea bottle, tape, paper towel and a piece of string.

My favorite style of teaching is Montessori and I feel this is my area of expertise. I was given a great opportunity to teach this way for a few years and after that I decided to bring it into the co-op my son attended and now I am happy to bring my area of expertise to Outschool. I continue to educate myself on ways to improve the Montessori style of teaching because most children and adults learn best this way. I also learn best this way, doing it has made a big difference in my life and in the lives of many others.
