In this class I will read Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson which will then be followed by a discussion of the characters in the book. We will talk about rhyming, do exercises to strengthen their understanding of rhyming and give them the opportunity to show off their rhyming skills. We will learn what an onomatopoeia is from the story as well as go through other examples from outside of the book. We will also analyze what the characters are feeling based on their facial expressions and...
Students will be able to strengthen their rhyming abilities. They will become detectives reading the facial expressions and words the characters use in order to understand what those characters may be feeling. The kids will be introduced to what an onomatopoeia is and be able to name words that fall into this category. They will be given the creative freedom to color characters from the story in whatever way they like and practice their scissor skills.
I will provide a file for you to print! Please just have scissors and markers, crayons or pencils to color the sheet. Optional: popsicle sticks or straws and glue
