Beginner Level
Join me for a fun and interactive 4-day Reading Comprehension Camp designed to help elementary students strengthen their reading skills, build confidence, and fall in love with reading! Who Should Join: This camp is perfect for rising 2nd–5th graders who want to boost their comprehension skills in a supportive and engaging environment. Whether your child loves to read or needs a confidence boost, this camp offers something for every reader! Students will explore engaging texts daily, practice key comprehension strategies, and participate in hands-on activities that make reading come alive. What We’ll Focus On: 📖 Making Predictions 🧠 Understanding Main Idea & Details 💬 Asking & Answering Questions 🎯 Summarizing and Drawing Conclusions 🕵️ Identifying Text Features & Making Inferences ***Students should be reading at a 4th-grade reading level or above for this course. Students do not need to have specific science or history knowledge to be successful in this class. If you are interested in private, please get in touch with me. Students will identify the main topic of a text and explain how key details support it.
Activities include text mapping, graphic organizers, and group analysis of age-appropriate nonfiction passages.

I use the Nearpod platform to create an interactive lesson. Nearpod allows students to work individually and receive private teacher feedback.
Pre-Requisites
The student should be able to read on their own at a grade 4 or higher reading level. Some questions ask for written answers.

I have been a state licensed and highly-qualified teacher for over 15 years. I was named my school's district reading and writing teacher on two occasions. I have always seen myself as a reading teacher for all of my students. Students who are in grades 3 and above read to learn and need to learn the strategies that make this possible.
