Welcome to Mrs. Shortt's summer book club! In this group we will be reading The Wild Robot, by Peter Brown. The Wild Robot is a beautifully written story and it is well-loved by upper elementary/early middle school students! This book club will have a guided reading structure. We will read the chapters together and students may volunteer to read aloud to their classmates. After the reading portion, we will practice comprehension skills and vocabulary skills. After class each week, I will provide students with an activity that they can complete in between our meetings. There will also be a narrative writing activity toward the end of the novel. We will also play a Kahoot to practice vocabulary towards the middle of our book club. All extra activities are optional! Students can join in just to read or listen to the story and discuss with our friends in the book club. All students will need a copy of The Wild Robot for the class. All activities will be available to print off and complete!
