This class will cover great works of literature from the ancient Greeks to Middle English. Students will decode the stories by looking at themes, elements, structure, historical context and literary devices such as similes and metaphors. This class is discussion based and the goal will be to tackle the enormous questions that these texts offer. I graduated from St. John's College which specializes in a Great Books of the Western World program. I also have a masters degree in Humanities and Eastern Classics. I hold a teaching certificate from the state of Texas and for eight years I ran a great books literary study group at the high school I taught at. Students would meet twice a week at lunch to discuss and analyze great pieces of literature.
