Now that learners have a solid foundation of reading, writing simple sentences, and grammar, they are ready to write more sophisticated sentences. This is when they start having grammar trouble with run-on sentences and sentence fragments (broken sentences). With explicit teaching, they will understand the building blocks of a sentence: subject, predicate, phrases, and clauses. While they don't learn the names of the phrases and clauses (that comes in part 2 of this class), they learn to see chunks of meaning and the purpose of each of those parts. 

Crafted to develop competent writers, this class allows students to work on sentence combining, deconstructing sentences, adding on, unscrambling, moving sentence parts around, and learning to manipulate phrases and clauses to write something beautiful.
