US Grade 4 - 6
In this ongoing class, we will review and reinforce grammar and word study concepts and skills for learners at the 4th and 5th grade level. Each week, there will be a mini-lesson to introduce a focus skill, followed by an activity or game for practice. We will be following a combined 4th and 5th grade scope and sequence of English language concepts and standards. These classes will not be dependent on each other. This means that learners may join in at any time! We hope you will join our group soon. *NOTE: Current week as of Jan. 5, 2025- WEEK 18-Relative Pronouns Week 1-Parts of Speech-Identifying Parts of Speech (L.4.1/L.5.1) Week 2-Punctuation & Usage-Commas in a Series (L.4.2/L.5.2) Week 3-Sentence Structure-Compound Sentences (L.4.3/L.4.3) Week 4-Word Meaning & word choice-Context Clues (L.4.4/L.5.4) Week 5-Figurative Language-Similes & Metaphors (L.4.5/L.5.5) Week 6-Parts of Speech-Parts of Speech Review (L.4.1/L.5.1) Week 7-Parts of Speech-Prepositions (L.4.1/L.5.1) Week 8-Punctuation & Usage-Capitalization (L.4.2/L.5.2) Week 9-Sentence Structure-Combining Sentences (L.4.3/L.4.3) Week 10-Word Meaning & Word Choice-Greek & Latin Roots (L.4.4/L.5.4) Week 11-Figurative Language-Adages & Proverbs (L.4.5/L.5.5) Week 12-Parts of Speech-Relative Adverbs (L.4.1/L.5.1) Week 13-Parts of Speech-Interjections, Conjunctions & Prepositions (L.4.1/L.5.1) Week 14-Punctuation & Usage-Dialogue (L.4.2/L.5.2) Week 15-Sentence Structure-Reducing, Combining & Expanding Sentences (L.4.3/L.4.3) Week 16-Word Meaning & word choice-Prefixes & Suffixes (L.4.4/L.5.4) Week 17-Figurative Language-Idioms (L.4.5/L.5.5) Week 18-Parts of Speech-Relative Pronouns (L.4.1/L.5.1) Week 19-Parts of Speech-Subordinating Conjunctions (L.4.1/L.5.1) Week 20-Punctuation & Usage-Commas in a Series (L.4.2/L.5.2) Week 21-Sentence Structure-Informal vs Formal Sentences (L.4.3/L.4.3) Week 22-Word Meaning & Word Choice-Context Clues (L.4.4/L.5.4) Week 23-Figurative Language-Synonyms & Antonyms (L.4.5/L.5.5) Week 24-Parts of Speech-Progressive Verbs (L.4.1/L.5.1) Week 25-Punctuation & Usage-Commas with Introductory Elements (L.4.2/L.5.2) Week 26-Sentence Structure-Correcting Fragments & Run-on Sentences (L.4.1/L.5.1) Week 27-Parts of Speech-Verb Tenses (L.4.1/L.5.1) Week 28-Word Meaning & Word Choice-Greek & Latin Roots (L.4.4/L.5.4) Week 29-Figurative Language-Frequently Confused Words (L.4.5/L.5.5) Week 30-Parts of Speech-Modal Auxillary Verbs (L.4.1/L.5.1) Week 31-Parts of Speech-Correlative Conjunctions (L.4.1/L.5.1) Week 32-Punctuation & Usage-Writing Titles Correctly (L.4.2/L.5.2) Week 33-Sentence Structure-Fragments & Run-on Sentences (L.4.1/L.5.1) Week 34-Word Meaning & word choice-Prefixes & Suffixes (L.4.4/L.5.4) Week 35-Figurative Language-Homophones (L.4.5/L.5.5) Week 36-Parts of Speech-Ordering Adjectives (L.4.1/L.5.1) Week 37-Punctuation & Usage-Other Comma Uses (L.4.2/L.5.2) Week 38-Sentence Structure-Subjects & Predicates (L.4.1/L.5.1) Week 39-Word Meaning & Word Choice-Reference materials (L.4.4/L.5.4) Week 40-Figurative Language-Synonyms & Antonyms (L.4.5/L.5.5) Week 41-Parts of Speech-Prepositional Phrases (L.4.1/L.5.1) Week 42-Punctuation & Usage-Spelling Patterns (L.4.2/L.5.2) Week 43-Parts of Speech-Coordinating Conjunctions (L.4.1/L.5.1) Week 44-Figurative Language-Using Academic Words (L.4.5/L.5.5) Week 45-Figurative Language-Homophones (L.4.5/L.5.5)
