課堂經歷
Grammar is the building block of reading, writing, and speaking, but it's a skill that often isn't emphasized until middle school. Elementary aged children can develop a strong foundation for communication by learning foundational grammar concepts early. Parts of speech are the foundation of language, and recognizing parts of speech will help students develop confidence in reading and writing. In this class, students will be introduced to three parts of speech: nouns, verbs, and adjectives. Students will learn to recognize these parts of speech and will practice identifying them individually and in sentences. Students will brainstorm to create their own sentences using what they've learned. We'll end class with a "Mad Libs" activity to implement what we've learned. A note to parents: Students often want to use "potty" words in Mad Libs. Within reason, I will allow some "potty" words to encourage kids to be silly and have fun. This language may include words like poop, pee, butt, and fart.
