It's time for another round of solving the cases! These cases are slightly harder than before and require more in-depth thinking and reasoning. Students who have enjoyed solving the riddles in my More Training to Be a Super Sleuth classes will enjoy this 4-week class. Each class prompts students to sharpen their thinking skills while refining their questions. Discussions at the end of class encourage students to see how critical thinking skills are necessary in our everyday lives as well as future professions. Each class will have a new mystery to solve as these "detectives" put on their detective hat (literally or figuratively) as they try to crack the case before the time runs out. Students can dress up as their favorite super sleuth or make up their own sleuth they want to be. Students will work together as a team, asking yes/no questions to discover the solution to the riddle. It will be an informal and lively conversation. They will solve the case by the end of class. If times allows, they can solve a second mystery.

Mystery #1
My lesson is a mystery that students will need to solve asking questions. If they solve it before the class is over, I have simpler one-minute mysteries to solve. Students learn how to ask questions and refine their answers to find the solution. 30 分鐘線上直播課

Mystery #2
Students will use brainstorming and problem solving skills to solve the mystery using yes and no questions. They learn how to ask broader questions to eliminate possibilities quickly. They also learn how to ask narrow questions to hone in on the specific details needed to solve the mystery. 30 分鐘線上直播課

Mystery #3
My lesson is about taking the mental image in your head and communicating it others so we can all have the same mental picture. Doing this helps students learn to how communicate clearly and effectively. 30 分鐘線上直播課

My lesson is about taking the previous knowledge they've gained from the last three mysteries and using that knowledge to solve this new mystery. 30 分鐘線上直播課

Hi! I'm teacher Veronica. I've been teaching for over 20 years. I’ve taught in both brick-and-mortar classrooms as well as online. I’ve been homeschooling my children since they were in kindergarten. I LOVE to memorize. I started memorizing large passages in 2010 and it's become an addiction with me. I'm offering classes that teach students how to memorize using classic poems. Not only does your child walk away with a poem memorized but more importantly he/she is learning a life-long skill of how to memorize and retain the passage. I'm also enjoying creating classes on problem solving. In these classes, students enjoy solving a mystery, but more importantly I'm teaching them how to think critically and ask questions. I'm laying a foundation of what problem solving looks like and how it can be used in our every day lives. My husband and I lived in Alaska for 18 years with our three children. We now reside in Michigan with our kids, one cat and one dog. One of my favorite things to do is walk around our neighborhood with my husband and enjoy the beauty. In Alaska we even walked when it was -30 degrees.評論
