During this class students will have a brief introduction to the artist, Vincent Van Gogh and learn about the art movement known as “Impressionism.” This will be followed by a drawing lesson in which students will draw one of Van Gogh’s most famous paintings called, “The Sunflowers.”  During the first half of class students will develop the drawing in 5 progressive steps. They will learn that drawings can also be broken down into 5 basic shapes. Vincent Van Gogh used bold colorful brush strokes and lots of natural sunlight to create beautiful and often compelling pieces of art! He often painted the same image at different times of the day to capture different moods. His favorite flowers were the captivating Sunflowers that surrounded his home! During the second half of class, students will learn basic coloring techniques. Coloring is an important part of the drawing! Your child will be inspired by the use of light and color in their completed masterpiece! Never again will they look at color and sunshine in the same way! It is my hope that I can instill a love for drawing as well as a sense of confidence in your young artist!
