In this engaging class, students will dive into the world of game development using GameMaker while also exploring the basics of 2D animation. Each week will focus on a new theme, allowing learners to create their own unique games and animations. Students will gain hands-on experience with the GameMaker interface, learn essential coding concepts, and develop their creativity as they design characters, backgrounds, and game mechanics. This class encourages collaboration, creativity, and fun, making it perfect for aspiring game developers! Week of Oct. 7: Character Creation Design unique characters for your games, focusing on appearance and personality traits. Week of Oct. 14: Background Design Create vibrant and immersive backgrounds that enhance the gameplay experience. Week of Oct. 21: Basic Game Mechanics Learn to implement fundamental game mechanics like movement, scoring, and interactions. Week of Oct. 28: 2D Animation Basics Explore the basics of 2D animation, bringing your characters and objects to life. Week of Nov. 4: Building Levels Design and construct game levels that challenge players and keep them engaged. Week of Nov. 11: Sound and Music Integration Learn how to add sound effects and music to your games for an immersive experience.
