I am excited to introduce this 4-week course of different types of figurative language. Each class we will learn about a new type of figurative language and how it applies to reading and writing. Learners will also be given opportunities to identify and apply figurative language to activities in class.

Below is a list of the class outline for the 8 sessions. Feel free to message me with any questions you may have. I hope to see your learner in this course! 

Day 1: 
Simile
Learners will learn about similes and how to write them. Then they will make a paper fortune teller game to play with family and friends. This game is a great way for learners to practice making similes.

Day 2:
Metaphor
Learners will learn about metaphors and how to write them. Then they will make an acrostic poem using metaphors in their writing.

Day 3: 
Alliteration
Learners will learn about alliteration and how to write it. Then they will be doing a surprise alliteration activity.

Day 4:
Hyperbole
Learners will be learning about hyperboles and how to write them. Then we will play a game called “Unscramble the hyperbole. 

Day 5: 
Onomatopoeia
Learners will learn about onomatopoeias and how to write them. Then they will make a comic strip using onomatopoeias.

Day 6:
Personification
Learners will learn about personification and how to write it. Then they will write a short story using personification in their story. 

Day 7:
Oxymoron 
Learners will learn about oxymorons and how to write them. Then they will play a game called ”Guess That Oxymoron.”

Day 8:
Figurative Language Jeopardy
Learners will be playing a game that includes the 7 different types of figurative language.
