Embark on a transformative fourth-grade adventure! Our program blends the enriching principles of Waldorf education with Common Core standards. 

Through in-depth exploration, focused projects, and artistic expression, your child will sharpen their reading, writing, mathematical reasoning, and scientific inquiry skills, expanding their knowledge of the world and growing as a thinker, problem-solver, and creator.

Our program utilizes a unique approach called block-based learning. Instead of briefly touching on many subjects each day, students immerse themselves in a single theme for 2-4 weeks at a time. 

This focused exploration fosters deep understanding, sparks connections across subjects, and empowers learners to achieve mastery.

⦿ Language Arts: Language arts learning is woven into every block, enriching your child's communication and literacy skills across all subjects. Your child will analyze complex stories like Norse myths, develop research skills, and express themselves confidently through various writing forms.

⦿ Math: Master fractions, multi-digit multiplication, and division strategies, connecting math concepts to real-world problem-solving.

⦿ Science & Social Studies: Explore zoology, Indigenous cultures, and historical perspectives through in-depth study and focused projects.

⦿ Creative Arts: Students will express ideas through drawing, sculpting, and other artistic mediums, inspiring creativity and self-expression.

Block 1, Week 1
Day 1: Introduction to Norse Mythology and "Thor's Fishing Trip"
Lesson Title: Introduction to Norse Mythology
Students will define the term "mythology" and identify key elements common to myths.
Students will describe the origins and cultural context of Norse mythology.
Students will demonstrate their learning in their main lesson books.

Day 2: Theme and Character Analysis
Lesson Title: Theme and Character Analysis in Norse Myths
Students will analyze the theme and characters of "Thor's Fishing Trip."
Students will discuss how Thor's actions drive the plot of the story.
Students will enhance their understanding of adjectives and adverbs.
Students will demonstrate their learning in their main lesson books.

Day 3: Plot Structure and Symbolism
Lesson Title: Understanding Plot Structure and Symbolism
Students will identify the plot structure of "Thor's Fishing Trip."
Students will discuss the symbolism in the story.
Students will reinforce their knowledge of parts of speech.
Students will demonstrate their learning in their main lesson books.

Day 4: Geography, Culture, and Painting
Lesson Title: Geography and Culture of Ancient Scandinavia
Students will learn about the geography and culture of ancient Scandinavia.
Students will explore the influence of geography on Viking life.
Students will create a wet-on-wet painting inspired by "Thor's Fishing Trip."

Lesson Title: The Final Battle
Students will recount the story of Ragnarok.
Students will describe the significance of Ragnarok in Norse mythology.
Students will demonstrate their learning in their main lesson books.

Day 2: Theme and Character Analysis
Lesson Title: Theme and Character Analysis in Norse Myths
Students will analyze the theme and characters of "Ragnarok: The Final Battle."

Students will practice combining sentences using conjunctions.
