Welcome! This supplemental reading camp will meet for 4-days and is best suited for 5th - 6th-grade students. Small-Group Instruction This allows me to work closely with each student to evaluate students' learning strengths, locate gaps in their reading development, and tailor lessons focused on specific learning objectives. LEARNING SESSIONS Students will experience a combination of direct instruction, note-taking, discussion, reading, writing, vocabulary, and the application of skills. In addition, students can expect independent and group interactions with the teacher and classmates. Please note that this course's writing is in the form of guided literary responses (not essays). ~ Explanation of vital vocabulary.
~ Review of the literary focus: Characterization, motives, relationships, and inferencing.
~ Review of the reading comprehension questions (test-taking strategies).
~ An interactive narration and annotation of the first half of the passage. All participants will be encouraged to join in the read aloud. This will help me determine understanding and fluency development.

~ A summary of day one.
~ Completion of the second half of the passage.
~ Guided discussion of the plot.
~ In-class assessment; multiple-choice and writing prompt.
