In this class, we will study the common core standards of middle school science. We will be studying many different topics including ecology and ecosystems, weather and climate, cell biology and many others.  Students will also get an introduction into chemistry that will be further developed upon in high school years. They will also expand their knowledge on topics in the field of physiology and anatomy, which they have received an introduction to in the previous grades. 

Weeks 1-2: Cell Biology  
Weeks 3-6: Physiology and Anatomy
Weeks 7-9: Ecology and Ecosystems
Weeks 10-11: Weather and Climate 
Weeks 12-14: Chemistry

Students will work with Nearpod, an interactive software program that allows students to participate in discussion boards, answer short quizzes, and watch interactive videos that pertain to course material. 
Students will also work with CK-12 an interactive learning platform, that allows students to answer practice tests, read articles, and work in interactive textbooks. Some of the assignments will be assigned on this platform. Each student will be provided with their own login information to access their assignments and readings, which the teacher will set up. 
Homework assignments will be assigned weekly. They will include, articles, CK-12 practice tests and articles, worksheets, and nearpod lessons. The teacher will provide feedback on submitted assignments and will be available to answer any questions the students may have. Each week, a discussion question will be posted to the classroom board for the students to collaborate on the topic that is being covered that week. This class is one of the parts of middle school science. Each part covers different topics and can be taken in any order. 
In this 14-week course, students will have one recording per week and receive articles corresponding to those recordings. The recordings will be posted by the date the class is scheduled, so for example, if your class is on a Saturday the recordings will be posted by the end of the day on Saturday therefore the students can choose when they would like to view them. The length of the class can be extended if needed to allow students to have time to view recordings and access materials. 

Taking the first semester of this class is not essential, this semester covers different topics.
