Do you love dogs? Do you have a dog at home? Is your dog your best friend? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you won't want to miss this class!

My name is Miss Liesha and I'm a professional dog walker. I love dogs and anything and everything that has to do with dogs. In this class, we celebrate the awesomeness that is the dog by learning all we can to better understand and support these amazing creatures. We'll explore topics like body language, behavior, positive reinforcement, socialization, training, care and handling, diet, exercise and so much more. We'll make fun toys and treats and find new ways to interact and play with our dogs. I'll also be sharing inspirational stories about dogs who help people, dogs who are changing the world and dogs with jobs.

Each week we will be making a small project. Many of the projects will have a small list of supplies that you most likely have around the house. Please be sure to CHECK THE CLASSROOM PAGE WEEKLY for a complete list of necessary supplies.

Dogs are always invited to class! We begin each class with a Meet & Greet. We welcome old friends and new friends and all of the dogs. Meet my dog, Momar! You'll have a chance to share your knowledge and learn new facts along the way.

Here are a few fun facts to get you started -
- Did you know that a dog's sense of smell is 40 times better than ours? 
- Some dogs are INCREDIBLE swimmers. Newfoundlands are so good in the water that for years they've been used as water rescue dogs.
- Some dogs are fast and could even beat a cheetah in a race! Greyhounds can easily run at speeds of at least 35mph!
- Your dog could be left or right-pawed! There have been a few studies and it turns out that just like us, dogs have a preferred hand (well, paw) to lead with. You can find out whether your dog is left or right-pawed by giving them their favorite toy or and seeing which paw they use to help them first!

Week of 1/6: We'll begin class with a Meet & Greet where you'll have a chance to introduce your dog and meet my dogs. We'll play a fun breed identification game .

Week of 1/13: Do you ever wonder what your dog is thinking? Today we'll learn how dogs communicate. We'll explore the concept of body language and better understand the meaning behind some of your dog's most common behaviors. 

Week of 1/20: Every good dog deserves treats and today we'll be baking some healthy biscuits wile learning about positive reinforcement. Did you know that all animals have one of three different types of diets? We'll learn which diet dogs have and come up with a list of healthy food choices for our furry BFFs.

Week of 1/27: We'll be making a chew/tug toy for our dogs this week using a basic braiding technique. Some dogs love playing fetch with their toy while others love a good game of tug. Playing with your dog is super important because it makes your bond even bigger and it prevents your dog from getting bored. A bored dog can easily become a dog who barks too much or chews things not meant for chewing. Playing together is fun!
