Join us in the fantastic world of Folk and Fairy Tales! In this self-paced class, we'll dive into different stories featuring timeless and beloved characters like The Gingerbread Man, The Three Little Pigs, Cinderella, and more! Through pre-recorded video readings, children will explore themes of friendship, kindness, problem-solving, and diversity found in these classic tales. This self-paced guided reading class for children is designed to explore comprehension activities in a fun and interactive way! Because this is a self-paced class, we will not meet together on Zoom. You are free to fit this class into your schedule when the time is best for you! There's lots of FLEXibility! 📺Each lesson includes a different Folk and Fairy Tale Reader video, which can be watched at any time, and re-watched as many times as needed. Storybooks correlate with Guiding Reading levels E-I. ✏️Reading comprehension, graphic organizers and/or response worksheets will be provided with each lesson to complete for homework. Learning Goals: ✔️Reading Comprehension: Enhance comprehension skills by engaging with age-appropriate texts. ✔️Critical Thinking: Encourage critical thinking through activities based on character motivations, story arcs, and moral lessons. ✔️Cultural Awareness: Introduce children to diverse characters and settings, promoting cultural understanding and empathy. 📂The following 15 Folk and Fairy Tale Stories will be explored; Cinderella Goldilocks And The Three Bears Martina The Cockroach Stone Soup The City Mouse And The Country Mouse The Elves And The Shoemaker The Gingerbread Man The Little Red Hen The Nightingale The Princess And The Pea The Spider And The Beehive The Three Billy Goats Gruff The Three Little Pigs The Tortoise And The Hare The Ugly Duckling 🤩Help children soar in reading with these timeless classics to help developing readers build skills and confidence!

Hello, I'm Catherine De'Ath, your Outschool guide to exciting learning adventures! As an experienced educator, I'm dedicated to creating a vibrant and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and empowered. From interactive lessons to thought-provoking discussions, my classes are designed to ignite curiosity and foster critical thinking skills. I have been teaching for more than 25 years with the Toronto District School Board (🍁Canada). My Ontario College of Teachers Certificate number is #286618. I attended Dalhousie University for my Bachelor of Music in Performance, and then Brock University for my Bachelor of Education. I studied classical piano from the age of 5 with the Royal Conservatory of Music. While in University, I performed as a Mezzo-Soprano in the Dalhousie Chorale.
Throughout my teaching career, I have taught K-12 Music, Kindergarten, Grade 1 and 2, Health and Physical Education. I have conducted choirs and musical ensembles for seasonal public performances throughout all of these years of teaching. I have always continued to advance my skills by taking additional qualifications courses and am very proud to be a Reading Specialist.
In 2020, I created K5 Hidden Peak Education. K5HPE proudly creates virtual resources to support the development of literacy, math, arts, health and physical education.
It is my passion and joy to make learning fun and engaging for all of my students. With personalized attention and a sprinkle of humor, I'm here to guide you on a journey of discovery and growth. I look forward to meeting you here on Outschool!
