Hello! My name is Kristi Robertson. Thank you for your interest in Fold-and-Fly Paper Airplane Self-Paced Class! This class is an opportunity for your child to have fun making two styles of paper airplanes per week and testing its flight or acrobatic abilities. The Fold-and-Fly Paper Airplane Club Flex Class is a 4-week asynchronous or self-paced class (no Zoom meetings). We will cover the following elements in class: 1. Airplane design Learners will assess the overall paper airplane design, its difficulty level, and the number of paper folds required to complete the plane. 2. Flight type Learners will identify if the paper airplane is designed for distance, time aloft, acrobatic, or decorative flight. For distance and time aloft flight types we will discuss average distance and average time aloft. Twice per week learners will: 1. Create paper airplanes 2. Conduct test flights 3. Assess the test flight results Learners will interact with me and other students by answering questions in the Classroom Discussion thread, posting their flight results, and responding to others. Thanks, again, for your interest in the class. I hope to see your child in my online classroom soon for some folding and flying! Kristi
學習目標
Students will learn 8 different paper airplane designs and will learn to assess aspects of the plane and its flight patterns by conducting test flights and documenting the results.

父母的引導和規範
There are some paper airplanes that may require the use of scissors in the design. Please have your child use the scissors with caution or help them use the scissors. I recommend safety scissors that have a rounded tip.
供應清單
1. Standard computer paper for printing each week's airplane design (approximately 4 pages per week to print) 2. Scissors (most planes do not require scissors, but a few do) 3. Scotch tape (not all planes will require tape, but an occasional design will need tape to add weight to one end of the plane) 4. Paper clips (not all planes will require paper clips, but an occasional design will need a clip to add weight to one end of the plane)

My university degrees are in Computer Science, Math, Environmental Science, and Business Management. I have a passion for all sciences and had an early interest in the science of flight vehicles. In early elementary school, I participated in a paper airplane contest with multiple planes and won first place. In 5th grade I conducted a science experiment titled, "How does an airfoil create lift?", built a balsawood airplane wing, and won first place at the science fair. I went on to create a 20+ year career working on airplanes for the Department of Defense. At 46 years old I still enjoy folding and testing paper airplanes!
