Students will be able to identify and describe the function for each part of a flower by first learning about each part and later finding those parts on real life flowers. Everyone will be provided with a detailed diagram to guide their note taking. Students will dissect a real flower and create a poster that identifies and describes the function of each part. Lastly, students will present their poster and compare and contrast the different flowers that were used. If time allows, the class will end with a fun review game.

A hand-out will be provided. At least one real flower. The bigger the better! A piece of white paper for the poster. The larger the better but printer paper is fine.

I currently hold a Level 2 Professional Teaching License for the state of Utah. I teach a variety of classes that are appropriate for elementary through middle school students. My favorite classes to teach are related to math and science. I have two years of outdoor/environmental education in the field and have taught in the classroom for over 17 years. I have taught many age groups, ranging from 2nd grade all the way to 9th grade (7 years as an elementary teacher, teaching all subjects as well as 8 years teaching middle school math and science). My goal as an educator is to create engaging, hands-on lessons that are full of discovery and discussion. Content is important, but the ability to problem solve and think for ourselves is also an important component of my lessons. I have lived and taught in four different countries: the U.S., Ecuador, Venezuela and Mexico. I obviously love to travel and feel the best way to learn is through new experiences. I also enjoy playing the guitar, surfing, snowboarding, backpacking in the wilderness and spending time with close friends.評論
