I am excited for your learner to begin learning Spanish at their own pace, and hope that when your schedule allows, they can join me in an ongoing or multi day class. I will speak slowly and clearly to model the expectations of each lesson and each assignment. There are NO LIVE CLASSES so you can learn anytime and from everywhere - at home, in the car, while on vacation, during road trips, at the airport or more! This flex class is designed for beginner Spanish students to have fun while learning with pre-recorded video lessons, independent practice, discussion boards, video assignments, and a research project on a Spanish speaking country that your learner is curious to learn about. Each week I will post materials on the Outschool class page and upload materials into Google Classroom. Materials may include Google Slide shows to introduce new vocabulary, listening and repeating activities, links to games, videos, and their target goals for the lessons. Learners can demonstrate their progress by submitting an audio recording using Vocaroo or post video on the Outschool classroom page. BONUS CLASS: Intro lesson! This video will post one week before the start date to get acquainted with each other. Lesson 1: Intro to Spanish letters, sounds & greetings Video Assignment - Learners will submit an audio recording or a video introducing themselves in Spanish, reciting the alphabet and spelling their name. Lesson 2: Days of the week, months of the year, weather, numbers 0-31; motivated learners 0-100 Video Assignment - Learners will submit an audio recording or video reciting the days of the week, months/seasons, numbers 1-10 or higher, and a brief weather report using Spanish vocabulary. Lesson 3: Let's Chat! Students will learn how to ask and answer questions to exchange information for "small talk." Video Assignment - Learners will submit an audio recording or video answering questions in Spanish about themselves. Lesson 4: Spanish speaking countries Video Assignment - Learners will submit an audio recording or video in English to tell me some new facts learned during this lesson about Spanish speaking countries and culture. Lesson 5: People, places & things Video Assignment - Learners will submit an audio recording or video to describe a person, a place, or a thing using Spanish vocabulary. Lesson 6: Activities I like Video Assignment - Learners will submit an audio recording or video demonstrating an activity they like to do using Spanish vocabulary. Lesson 7 Foods I like Video Assignment - Learners will submit an audio recording or video to share the foods they like to eat using Spanish vocabulary. Lesson 8 All about me Video assignment - Learners will complete a graphic organizer with facts about themselves using Spanish vocabulary.

Romance languages use general rules to identify the gender of nouns and adjectives and will be taught in the traditional manner. I do not have pedagogical training to teach neutral gender using @ or X. If your learner has a non binary identity, I highly recommend having this conversation with your learner prior to enrollment and clearly indicate the preferred gender/pronoun so I can address your learner appropriately (ie. Amiga for females and those who identify as female and Amigo for males and those who identify as male).

I will provide printable materials (PDF's) which will be uploaded to the Outschool classroom page throughout the duration of the course. Therefore, access to a printer is recommended. Please make sure your learner is ready and prepared to work on the lessons. I will also use Google Classroom which is a free and easy tool helping educators efficiently manage and assess progress, while enhancing connections with learners from school, from home, or on the go.
