This math-based class is designed to provide students with a practical understanding of the math skills they will actually need in the business world and in managing their own finances. The course will cover a variety of topics, including budgeting, managing money, and making financial decisions. The class will focus specifically on mathematical concepts and how they relate to real-life situations and scenarios. The class will be interactive and will help students develop problem-solving skills and understand the math concepts that are important for the business world or for their own personal finances. Throughout the course, students will participate in discussions, group activities, and real-life scenarios to understand the importance of the topics being taught. Learners can expect engaging class time that encourages active participation and critical thinking. ▬▬▬▬▬ WEEKLY TOPIC SCHEDULE ▬▬▬▬▬ Week 9: Banks Functions and services provided by banks Types of banks (commercial banks, investment banks, etc.) Bank accounts and financial products (savings accounts, loans, etc.) Banking regulations and consumer protection Week 10: How interest works Understanding the concept of interest Different types of interest rates (simple, compound, etc.) Calculation of interest and its impact on loans and investments Interest rate determination and monetary policy Week 11: Credit Cards Introduction to credit cards and their features Benefits and risks of using credit cards Credit card terms and fees Managing credit card debt and building a good credit history Week 12: Debit Cards Exploring the functionality and features of debit cards Differences between credit and debit cards Debit card usage and security considerations Budgeting and financial management with debit cards Week 13: How to save and why this is important Importance of saving money for financial stability Strategies for effective saving (automating savings, setting goals, etc.) Different types of savings accounts and investment options Tips for managing expenses and increasing savings Week 14: How to budget your personal life Understanding the importance of budgeting Creating a personal budget plan Tracking income and expenses Budgeting techniques and tools Week 15: Credit ratings and how it affects you for life Introduction to credit ratings and credit scores Factors influencing credit ratings Impact of credit ratings on borrowing and interest rates Improving and maintaining a good credit rating Week 16: Understanding what money can't buy Exploring the limitations of money and its ability to provide happiness Value of non-monetary aspects in life (relationships, experiences, etc.) Finding a balance between financial success and personal fulfillment Developing a holistic approach to wealth and well-being GOALS: -Teach students how to budget and manage their money effectively in the context of real-life scenarios -Provide students with an understanding of how to make financial decisions using mathematical concepts -Help students develop problem-solving skills through real-life scenarios -Enhance students' understanding of mathematical concepts and how they relate to the business world and personal finances No experience is required to take this class. Students will be provided with 16 separate videos to watch, 1 for each topic. The videos will contain the information required to give students a good understanding of each topic, and each one will include homework for the students to undertake during the week. Homework assignments will include writing a list of topics, interests, and areas of expertise in which the students might be interested in developing a business. There will also be research assignments into how topics we discuss. After watching each video and completing the homework assignments, students will be provided with feedback and the specific next steps to make their business vision a reality, including how to write a business plan. Time frame for the Week: Mondays - The teacher will post the information needed for the week. Tuesdays-Wednesday - The teacher can answer any questions pertaining to the topic of the week. The students will need to complete any homework assignments and answer any questions in the class. Thursday - Students need to have all tasks completed and uploaded in the classroom. Friday - The teacher will provide feedback to the class and individual students, students will also be able to engage in peer-to-peer review and be able to discuss how they went about completing the tasks. Saturday - Sunday - Teacher will be available to answer any questions that the students may have for the week or the next week. Johnathan is a highly accomplished serial entrepreneur who has founded three successful companies before the age of 30. He has always been driven to succeed in life, and this drive began in his teens when he first recognized the power of positive motivation.
Johnathan was fortunate to have had a good mentor who guided him through the complexities of financial management. This early guidance helped him understand the value of money and business, and develop the skills to identify and seize opportunities to make money and manage an investment portfolio.
In addition to his entrepreneurial experience, Johnathan holds a Bachelor of Science degree and is dedicated to sharing his life skills knowledge with others. He regularly teaches life skills, business, and English to young people (middle and high schoolers) and adults around the world.
