This class covers a full-year curriculum of First Grade grammar and writing. Topics covered will include complete sentences, parts of speech, capitalization, punctuation, and beginning paragraph writing. Class begins with a discussion and examples of the writing skill being taught. Guided lessons take your learner through the process of creating solid sentences and relating them to one another in a paragraph. Week of September 30th: Nouns and verbs Week of October 7th: Subjects and predicates Week of October 14th: Pronouns Week of October 21st: Compound subjects Week of October 28th: Compound predicates Week of November 4th: Adjectives Week of November 11th: More adjectives Week of November 18th: Adverbs Week of November 25th: Fall break No class! Week of December 2nd: More adverbs Week of December 9th: Adding adjectives and adverbs for more detail Week of December 16th: Present and past tense verbs Winter break! We'll be back in January 2025.
