In this ongoing class we will be exploring Avant-Garde fashion. I will explain what it is and the importance of it. We will discuss the Avant- Guarde outfit of the day to understand what we are looking at and talk about how we think the designer came up with the idea; did they think of the silhouette first, the exaggeration of parts, different materials or deconstruction and reconstruction. We will also discuss how the garment was constructed. The different designers we will be drawing from are: Loewe, Off White, Area, Rei Kawakubo, Balenciaga, Jean Paul Gaultier, Comm de garcons, Thom Browne, Jeremy Scott, Shuting Qiu and many more. 


I will teach the students how to draw the body and then they will draw the avant-garde  outfit of the day. Time permitting they can customized the outfit. We will end each day with sharing and explaining what they like about their drawing.
