Beginner Level
      Math in Focus Singapore Math gives students time to master foundational topics needed for first grade.  Singapore Math teaches students math with concrete, pictures, and finally applying their knowledge to solve problems. 
      In this class, students will receive explicit instruction and explore math concepts for the kindergarten curriculum.  The students will actively participate during class and verbalize their thinking process. Kindergarten students will be introduced to new concepts which will include counting numbers, skip counting, place value, and geometry. Skills are connected to concepts through concrete, pictorial, and abstract practices.
         The students will sing songs through visuals and act out fun concepts and learn new math ideas.  The students will explore math concepts through exploration and discussion.  They will also learn important math vocabulary for each lesson. This program will help the students excel to the next level in math.
          I believe that all children can be successful in math. I want to motivate the students with important math strategies and give them the confidence they need in math.  I want the students to feel excited and less anxious about learning math.  I will use models, visual aids, and activities to help them understand new concepts.  I want them to build their math skills and think critically. 
    This class is a continuation of Singapore Math Part  2 but can be taken without taking the first class.

Week 1- Counting On / Comparing Numbers
Week 2- Classify and Sort / Classify things by attributes
Week 3- Classify and Sorting by two attributes 
Week 4- Writing Addition Sentences/ Represent Addition Stories
Week 5- Addition Facts to 5/ Combination of 5
Week 6- Subtraction Stories / Write subtraction sentences 
Week 7- Combining Sets - How Many More?
Week 8- Subtraction Facts to 5/ Combination of 5
Week 9- Measurement- Comparing weight using units
Week 10- Comparing Capacities 
Week 11- Comparing Events in Time / Compare events by duration
