This class will cover potential and kinetic energy using interactive slides, kinesthetic learning (moving our bodies), and making marshmallow shooters! I also have this class available to younger learners ages 6-9 in a separate listing. This one moves much faster and is a one-day class. The class for younger learners moves slower and is a multi-day class. Much of the material is the same. You should choose the level based on your child's abilities, not necessarily his or her age. Students will learn the difference between potential and kinetic energy, be able to give examples of each from their everyday lives, and also describe how the increase or decrease of one affects the increase of decrease of the other. They will also be able to explain how their marshmallow shooters are an example of potential and kinetic energy.
5 years teaching middle school science in the classroom, BS degree in nutrition, pre-med track.
1 註冊後即可取得文件One-page lab worksheet (will be provided once enrolled, please print before class) Pencil Paper cup Tape (preferably duct tape) 12 or 15 inch balloon (2, in case one pops) mini marshmallows (about 20) Scissors (please monitor your child's use of scissors during class or pre-cut the bottom out of the paper cup before class) Measuring tape (or ruler) Optional: 1. Crazy Scientist Costume (this can be as simple as swimming goggles and crazy hair and a baseball cap...we will put on our costumes halfway through class) 2. Construction paper and a crayon or marker (to make targets for our marshmallow shooters, time permitting at the end of class)
