Research shows that doing art is an effective way to reduce stress, increase focus, and improve self-esteem. Whether it’s painting, dancing, writing, or music, art in all of its forms can benefit your mental health. - The Power of Creativity – How Art Can Benefit Mental Health By Abbey Morris (an article from Lifeology. In this class, we will explore different art activities based on the student's interests. Do you want to learn more about digital arts? Let's learn using programs like Procreate (somewhat inexpensive art app) or Inkscape (free vector drawing app). How learning about fiber arts? We can practice making macrame or embroidery. There are so many possibilities: quilling, water colors, painting.... Students will have a choice as to what we work with. Together we will explore different art activities. If I am not sure how to do something, I will do my best to learn so that I can guide students on how to do things. This class is geared to the students needs/wants. It is a relaxed, fun environment, where kids can be themselves and learn new ways to express themselves through art. Welcome! Thank you for taking the time to visit my virtual classroom. I am a certified teacher offering classes in Spanish, English as a Second Language, Reading, and elementary school subjects and crochet. When I was in high school, I had an opportunity to internship at an elementary school and from that moment I fell in love with education. I went on to get my degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and have been teaching ever since. I started out in the regular elementary classroom and then had opportunities to teach Spanish, Reading and English as a Second Language.
I love helping children grow as learners. It gives me great joy to see them learn and achieve their goals. There is nothing better than working with a struggling reader and hearing them say "I can read this!" I believe that children learn best when they are having fun, and feel safe. It is my goal to make each child feel this way. I want them to know that they matter to me.
I was born in Venezuela and moved to the states at the age of 10. This has helped me connect with my ESL students in the past because I understand what they are going through. In Venezuela they speak Spanish, which is why I feel comfortable teaching Spanish to young learners. I have 3 kids and I decided to work from home so that I could enjoy as much of my time with them as possible. Time flies and I want to continue working in education and encouraging children to find a love of learning.評論
