In this Level 2 piano improvisation class, students will build on their foundational knowledge of piano playing and dive deeper into the world of improvisation. Designed for students who are comfortable with basic piano techniques, including the C Major scale, counting beats, and basic chord progressions, this class will help learners develop a more nuanced understanding of improvisation through a series of engaging and interactive lessons.

What Will Be Taught?

This class will cover essential topics for expanding your improvisation skills. Students will learn advanced chord progressions, how to use chord inversions, and how to integrate various rhythmic and melodic patterns into their playing. We'll explore creative ways to combine these elements into original melodies, and emphasize the importance of dynamics and emotional expression in improvisation. By the end of the class, students will feel confident in their ability to improvise and create their own unique piano compositions.

Class Structure:

Each week, we will meet for a live, interactive class where we’ll work together to practice and apply new skills. The class is structured around hands-on learning, with plenty of opportunities for students to play along, experiment, and receive direct feedback. During the lesson, I will guide the group through exercises and provide tips on technique, expression, and creativity. We will work together as a class, and you will have opportunities to practice individually as well as with the group.

I strive to create a relaxed and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable experimenting and making mistakes, knowing that this is a natural part of the learning process.
