Learning how to write an essay is essential because it builds a foundation for clear and organized communication. Through essay writing, individuals develop critical thinking skills and learn to present their ideas in a structured format. Each paragraph must have a purpose, and mastering this helps convey arguments logically and persuasively. Writing essays also prepares people for academic and professional success, where clear writing is a valuable skill. This course breaks down how each paragraph in an essay should be developed. During this course, students will learn how to construct a basic five paragraph essay: •Introduction (hook, thesis statement) •Body Paragraphs (topic sentence, supporting details, closing/transitional sentence) •Conclusion ("upside-down" introduction) Students will be given three prompts to choose from. They will have one week to complete and submit their first draft essay. They will then receive feedback that they will use for their final revision. While this is a self-paced course, learners will have access to the lesson and are encouraged to submit their essay once they have viewed all the material. They will then be given feedback within 24-36 hours and a week to complete the revision. If more time is needed, they may contact the instructor for an extension. Additional handouts will be provided to assist with the completion of this course.

𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗝𝗮𝗱𝗲 (𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿):
I started my path to teaching in college when I volunteered with AmeriCorps. I went on to teach in traditional public schools after I completed my M.Ed and received my teaching license, but I quickly learned the school environment was not the ideal setting for myself or my child. That is when I transitioned to homeschooling and teaching online. I have been teaching writing course for fifteen years. My primary objective in each class is to help the learners feel comfortable and gain confidence in their writing.
