課堂經歷
Immerse yourself in three different stories that place you in rooms filled with puzzles and clues! This class allows you to explore each room from top to bottom and all around. As you turn the 360-degree camera, different interactive elements will appear, each potentially leading to your eventual escape. I have included an introductory video where I walk learners through the interactive elements that will appear in the rooms. This video provides important information about these elements to make the experience much smoother. Although each room suggests 'you have an hour,' there is no actual time limit; learners may take as long as they need to escape. This is a self-paced class, allowing learners to work at their own speed and availability. While some learners might move faster, this class is estimated to last three weeks (an average of one escape room per week). Therefore, I will check in each week to see how your learner is progressing with the escape rooms. Learners may also message me outside the weekly check-ins and can expect a response within 24 hours. Learners should be able to take and organize notes on information that they discover. There is no single path of progression, and learners may initially feel overwhelmed with information. While hints are provided in the room and in a separate document in the Outschool classroom, some learners might experience anxiety when trying to make sense of the information. Keep this in mind when deciding if this class is right for your learner.

The escape rooms are hosted on Thinglink, and no sign-in is required.
Each escape room utilizes features provided by LearningApps and Flippity to create puzzles and locks that enhance the interactiveness of the rooms. The puzzles and locks are embedded within the rooms, ensuring that learners do not have to visit the LearningApps or Flippity websites. No sign-in is required, and learners will always remain within the Thinglink escape room. However, the use of LearningApps and Flippity means that this class is strictly available to learners aged 13 years and older.

Hi, I'm Mr. Steven, and I'm an English Language Arts teacher with a passion for project-based learning and pop culture themes. My classes range from academic to social, with the goal of helping students develop important academic/life skills and explore their interests.
With an Associate's in Communication, a Bachelor's in Creative Writing, and a Master's in Education, I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to my teaching. Over the years, I’ve taught language arts to students from elementary to high school. I’ve taught both in public schools and virtually, and I've worked with classic and contemporary texts, including “The Crucible” and "Flying Lessons & Other Stories."
My philosophy behind teaching is simple: I believe that learning should be engaging, relevant, and fun. The classroom, whether it is physical or virtual, should be interactive and allow students to express themselves. Assessments should center around the individual student and seek signs of their growth rather than comparisons to others.
