In this ongoing class we will discuss and analyze short stories through a literary lens, as well as simply enjoying short stories that have proven to be some of the best in English Literature. Though my degree is in engineering, I hold a Minor in English Creative Writing, particularly focusing on Short Stories. It was my dream to double major in Engineering AND English, but alas(!) there were not enough hours of the day to allow for this to happen. I have led multiple discussion groups and been a part of many, many more. That is to say, I continue to be passionate about short stories and I wish to bring this passion to a high school classroom setting.

The stories covered in this class can be freely accessed through websites such as Project Gutenberg or online literary magazines. The instructor will provide a link to each story week to week.

Since we will focus on English literature, some mature themes should be expected in these short stories. These can include death, violence, prejudice, amongst others. Overly explicit violent or sexual themes will NOT be present in the short stories selected for this class.
