Welcome to our engaging and interactive course designed to introduce students to the fast-paced world of the emergency department (ED) and emergency medicine. Students will learn about the critical roles and responsibilities within the emergency department, focusing on the function of the ED, which includes triage, diagnosis, treatment, and stabilization. They will explore the various roles such as doctors, nurses, technicians, and support staff. Key skills needed in the ED, such as quick decision-making, communication, teamwork, staying calm under pressure, multi-tasking, and critical thinking, will be emphasized. Additionally, the course will cover common cases encountered in the ED, including trauma, chest pain, respiratory issues, infections, and more. The course is structured to provide a mix of lectures, interactive activities, and real-life scenarios. This includes an interview with an Emergency Room (ER) nurse. Discover the world of healthcare careers! Ideal for older kids and teens interested in becoming doctors, nurses, or other health professionals, this course offers hands-on learning and key insights into medicine and the human body.
