In this one-time class, students will learn how to do the two most basic stitches of embroidery, the running stitch and the stem stitch. Students will learn which fabrics work best for embroidery, what floss and needles to use, and how to stitch. Students will design and start stitching a project during class. This class will be a workshop where the teacher will demonstrate the stitches and the students will then practice them. Mrs. Borton is a patient and encouraging teacher and will...
Students will learn to do the stem stitch and the running stitch, while practicing their dexterity.
Mrs. Borton has been sewing and stitching as long as she can remember! She has taught sewing, quilting, and embroidery at a local fabric store where she worked with students of all ages.
Students will need the following supplies: 1. fabric in a plain color 2. embroidery floss in at least three colors 3. an embroidery hoop 4. needles for sewing/embroidery 5. scissors for cutting floss
