In this class your child will learn proper siting position at the keyboard/piano and proper hand positions. I will also introduce the finger numbers to them. My style is interactive and I will listen to each student play. Student do not require any previous experience in piano. I will go over the black keys in the C4 octave. I will introduce them to listening to high, low and middle notes with a listening activity. The student will learn a simple song, Hot Cross Buns, on the black...
1) Proper sitting position to play the piano. 2) Proper hand position. 3) Fingering. 4) High and Low notes. 5) A short song to learn and practice after class.
I have taught children preschool through high school for over 25 years. I have a Bachelor's in Music Education with an emphasis in voice, and have played piano since I was 9 years old. I enjoyed accompanying many of my fellow Music majors for their juries (finals) in college. Knowing the basics gives children the confidence to pursue their favorite instrument and that's an amazing gift. I am patient and encouraging and love to engage with my students in a very positive way. I look forward to teaching your child.
