What Will Happen in Each Class?
At the beginning of each class a new diagraph sound will be introduced (see below for weekly schedule). I will teach an action and a phrase to help your child embed the sound into their memory.  We will look at words with these sounds in and practice segmenting and blending them. Each session is filled with reading games, writing games, colorful interactive resources and opportunities to laugh and have fun! 
Your student will be reading lists, tricky words, nonsense words and simple silly sentences. They will complete the session by a challenge to write their own simple sentence. There will be lots of opportunities to share achievements. As students listen to each other sounding out and blending they will help each other and learn from each other at the same time. I always encourage students to participate as much as possible.
The main aim of each session will be to build your child's confidence in reading words out of context and within a text. This will prepare them for reading unfamiliar words in any book, and will give them the confidence to fall in love with any new story!
You can complete the whole of this course, or dip into it as best fits our child's learning needs.  The course will be repeated every 6 weeks, so if you miss a section you would be welcome to join at a later stage. Classes are held on a Monday, and Friday.
