In this class, I will be teaching phonics to help students develop a firm foundation for reading. We will use games, whiteboards/markers, and other engaging techniques to make learning phonics fun! I will begin with a diagnostic assessment to determine where students need to begin. We will work on letter name and sound recognition, blending, decoding, encoding, orthographic mapping, sentence writing, and so much more!

Students will be able to recognize and identify individual sounds (phonemes) in words including beginning, middle, and ending sounds.Students will be able to correctly associate letters with their corresponding sounds, particularly with consonants and short vowels.
