課堂經歷

Gymnast must have their handstand, cartwheel, and back bend with straight arms to get the full experience out of this class. 

All students will learn how to build a workout circuit for the four gymnastics events (floor, beam, vault, and bars). 
Each week they will perform one circuit of training for each Gymnastics event. 
Learners will see videos and pictures to help them understand drills and skills. Coach Kristalyn will workout along with them to give them live examples of drills and skills. 

This class builds on skills learned in "Drills Make Skills: Beginner Gymnastics I" or previous experience with intermediate gymnastics training. Below is an overview of skills gymnast will learn:

Floor: Handstand hold, one hand cartwheel, bridge kick, back bend kick over drills, cartwheel snap, press handstand 
Bars: Kip drills, straddle dismount drills, cast to horizontal drills/straddle handstand drills, press handstand progression 
Beam: handstand, cartwheel, dismount, half turn, pivot turn, snap turn, leap 
Vault: plyometrics, resistance running, body shaping for front handspring vaulting
Stretch: splits, shoulder flexibility, toe pointing stretches

Week 1: Focus on shaping, love of conditioning, and how to fall safely 
Week 2: Focus on skill connections, turns, and drills that make skills
Week 3: Goal setting, learning a routine, and showing confidence throughout your skills
Week 4: Routine Presentation

Students will improve their understanding of skills through video and safe drills and skills at home. They will be encourage to focus on details and learn to be in charge of their own goals while being guided through safe drills and skills. They will improve hand eye coordination, endurance, balance, self esteem and determination.

This class does have a risk of injury if skills are not performed properly. Please be sure that students are working in a safe environment where hazardous furniture with sharp edges or tripping hazards are moved away from the space the gymnast will perform. Parental supervision may need to be modified due to your students strength or experience level doing certain skills.

tape to create a line on the floor or on a mat ( a blanket folded like a beam works great as well)
Gymnastics mat, cartpet, or yogo mat or air track 
pool noodle or pvc pipe for bars ( anything similar in width that can be held like a bar)
Water Bottle

Hello Parents!
My name is Kristalyn Aubry and I will be teaching a range of gymnastics classes. Classes will include drills, skills, strength training, and techniques and how they translate to life lessons such as perseverance, self-motivation, and teamwork. I was a gymnast for 10 years and a coach for 8 years. I attended Alabama School of Fine Arts with the focus of Visual Arts and Performing Arts. 
My philosophy is to spread my love of art making and movement through gymnastics. I want to connect with learners through activities that encourage life skills such as patience and endurance. My goal is to motivate learners who are trying to find their voice through different mediums of art and physical activities. The experiences they take from my class I hope students can store in the tool box they take along with them in their journey through life. I apply my values in the classroom by remembering that each learner is different and their learning style is unique which is why my classes are mixed with videos, discussions, and activities that encourage student feedback to ensure their understanding on subjects. I look forward to working with your child!
