Students will be introduced to the artist Wayne Thiebaud, through a slideshow of his work. We will discuss as a class what we see in his artwork and painting style. Next, students will create some art of their own inspired by Thiebaud's paintings. We will draw a cake  and either an ice cream dish or an ice cream cone. Then, we will add a background and other details to make the artwork unique to each learner. If time permits we can draw any other treats the students may suggest such as donuts, cupcakes, snow cones, and lollipops. Although this class is largely done in a directed drawing, students are encouraged to add creativity to their art where they see fit.

Please note that students may need time outside of class to finish coloring their artwork.
