This class introduces students to Japanese art and culture as they explore works in various museums’ collection. Students will participate in a short discussion about Japanese art. We will look and discuss why these works were created. We will also look at the process of these works of art and the materials that were used. We will also view a traditional Japanese tea house. Students will create their own fan using the materials they provide. I will be creating along with the students....

During the school year I teach art to students in both a general classroom and special needs classroom. My school is in the city and serves students in grades K-5. I am trained in all areas of art. I also teach blocks of reading and math to students in a small group setting. The lessons that I am teaching in this class are lessons that I have taught at my school. I have an undergraduate degree in Art, Masters in Art Education, and a Master's in Special Education. I really enjoy seeing children express themselves and show off their creative side
I try to keep cost at a minimum. I will be flexible with items and hope that you have some of them at home. Please have extra paper or a sketch book for the beginning drawings. Paper and something for color such as a box of crayons, markers, or colored pencils. I can show you how to complete the project using a variety of materials. No paint please because we will be folding the paper.
