I will be covering the classification of cetaceans, general evolution of this group, some adaptations like echolocation, and highlight behaviors like singing for communication along with the development of family structure. We will be using Nearpod in order to facilitate student engagement, show video content, and to assess student learning through a "Time to Climb" quiz at the end of the session. Students will be able to classify the major groups of cetaceans while also understanding their general evolutionary trends and some of their most prominent adaptations.
I have a degree in Biology and have taken multiple courses focusing on marine science. I have also worked in seal rehabilitation and in aquariums. I have taught Marine Science in a high school setting for 4 years.

This class uses a third party tool called Nearpod. While an account is not needed, if your child has never used it before; I recommend taking a look at it in advance. Most students use it with ease and love being actively engaged through the activities. I will be using screenshare to show Nearpod. In case of technical difficulties, I will use Google slides instead.
