During this course, students will be guided step-by-step to create their own Origami objects out of dollar bills. This is a medium skill level class. Students should be able to follow visual directions. Students will use their hands to follow a specific set of steps both verbal, visual and textual prompts in a sequence (procedural text) to develop cognitive development and fine motor skills. Origami fosters a positive growth mindset. Children set a goal and work hard to achieve a visible result. Children are transforming a 2-dimensional dollar bill into a 3-dimensional object while developing spatial awareness. Students will need 5 single bills (US currency works best but foreign money can work, student can also use paper cut to the size of a US dollar bill,6.14 by 2.61 inches.) A parent may need to be available to assist younger students, students who struggle with following directions, or frustrate easily. Origami can be challenging.
